Apple invests another €1 billion to expand chip development

“The expansion of our European Silicon Design Center will enable our more than 2,000 engineers in Bavaria to collaborate even more closely on breakthrough innovations including custom silicon designs, power management ICs and future wireless technologies,” said Jonny Srouji, Senior Vice President Apple's president of hardware technology. In addition to the new facility on Seidel Strasse, Apple teams will occupy several locations on Denisstrasse and Marsstrasse. The three new facilities are located across the street from Apple's newly opened Research and Development Center. Together with the engineering sites, the new facilities form the European Silicon Design Center, located in the Maxvorstadt district in the center of Munich. Apple noted that over the past five years it has directed more than 18 billion euros to more than 800 German companies, contributing to the creation of new jobs, community development and employment opportunities across the country.
